how do you pick just one! They are all good bands during certain periods.

But GNR for that brief period were second to none.

I attribute 2/3 of my hearing loss to Led Zeppelin. I would've listened to Mom if the music hadn't been so loud.

The Super Mods can change your vote (not sure if your name will move, though).

You have to ask them very politely.

Geez, Sarge I've never heard of a single one of those bands. Are they boy bands, pop tart stuff like Boyz 2 men, and new Kids on the block. Or is it rap?

These are Christian bands that I hear every year at the Cornerstone Music Festival (www.cornerstonefestival.com). REZ was 1st known as The Ressurection Band & have played for 25 years in the Christian Rock Areana. They've cut many albums & have played all over the world. The two lead vocalists were Glenn & Wendi Kaiser of Jesus People USA from Chicago. Glenn is an old Hippie & Pastor with JPUSA & has sinced formed a Rockin' Blues trio called Glenn Kaiser Band.(GKB) He still plays all over the world & has cut many albums under the new group. Leper is a Goth band & their stuff is absolutely brilliant. Toby Mac came out of a Christian Rap group called D.C.Talk & now has a really cool integtated group of about 10 people he calls "Diverse City"(diversity) Lately I've heard a new group from Florida called "The Lee Boys". 5 black guys who play "Power R. & B." with a fantastic pedal steel guitar sound like you wouldn't believe.

That being said, if you want to go back to my "secular music years" it would have been:

    The Doors
    Chicago
    Credence Clearwater Revival
Grand Funk Railroad...but Mark Farner, their lead guitar player, is a Christian now & has also played solo at the Fest.

Another entry would have to be Mason Profitt. Again, both the Talbot brothers, John Michael & Terry, are now Christians as well.

Finally, let's not forget "Head East", who lost their powerful vocalist, John Schlitt, who became a Christian and now heads up an older Christian rock group called "Petra."

    So, anyway, now you know.

I've heard of Petra before, I think they've been around a while. Isn't it weird how bands get labeled as "Christian RocK' or something similar then they arent played on commercial radio. Even if they have a similar sound to the other stuff the station plays...I've never really understood that . Music is music...be it Christian Rock or just rock. It doesnt seem like the stations would care as long as people like it.

metallica, has got a lot to say about survival, both surviving the wildreness and surviving society.
they have a song called Harvester of sorrow.
i would recomend everybody listen to it.
    it carries a powerful message,

    cool thread!
