    Default First Dakota fire pit

Never made a Dakota fire pit and decided to give it a go. I used an entrenching tool to dig the first, larger hole, and then upwind a few inches, I dig down not as deep. I then used a branch and the back of the e-tool and hammered through from one hole to the other to connect them. Lot a fire in the bigger hole and was done. It wasn’t as hard as I would’ve figured it to have been. Do I think the effort is worth it? Probably not unless you’re in high wind areas or in very dry conditions where a wildfire may easily spread.

Can see the embers through the connecting hole, but not the actual flames.

    Very cool! Nice weather, too.
