Are beechnuts edible...and if yes...how to eat them? raw? boiled? Are their any precautions to be considered?

beechnuts are highly valued as a survival food because of a high oil content and really great taste, i have also heard of ppl roasting the kernel then boiling and grinding the nut as a coffee subsitute, now that being said i have not done this myself so practise and let me know.

Its ok to eat them a little green. In fact you are often in a race with the squirrels and other animals to see who gets to harvest them first. The creature who is willing to eat them a little greener is the winner.
