My only concern would be if the baitstick didnt kick out and instead skewered the load.
I would think that if the bait stick was on soft earth it might sink making for a stiff trigger. I would put a flat stone or perhaps another stick under the bait stick to keep it from sinking. Just a thought.

i really want to try this set. I think i'll put the bait down between the sticks some to make them pry at it.

I think the westerners used that to trap packrats. It is very hard to set in my opinion. Nice trap though, thanks rick.

I tried it yesterday in my back yard. It was kind of tough to balance, but it seems like it will work.
