Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns? Well, it seems that his allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking your ammo!

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture a data base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.

Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011. (Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more!

If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun!

This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

The "Ammunition Accountability Act" is, however, sponsored almost entirely by a company that sells technolgy for encoding bullets. Both the legislation and the company are PERFECT examples of "special interest" legislation.

have owned firearms well over 50yrs and I have had a concealed carry permit for many years. Logically who do you think is "on record" as owning and carrying a handgun? Do you think people like me that did their dirty work then put back on the shelf are part of being "politically correct" to people who have never crawled in the mud nor put in the position of killing people? I was trained well, yet now that I am much older why should I be "allowed" to carry a firearm? Politicians aren't all stupid. I can be regulated or priced out of firearms and ammo. England & Australia are only two examples of your "boogie men". Can't carry a SAK in England now, confiscation in Australia, where do you think it will end? There are people like me who will stop by any means anyone that attempts to harm them, their family or any innocent person. I have knives I used in the '60s that are illegal to carry yet I got a pat on the head for using them, same with firearms. I love being paranoid, sleep better at night knowing there are other, younger better people that feel as I do. I refuse to be treated like crap as we were in the '60s so the "politically correct" could have the right to do as they wished. My personal views, agree or not it doesn't make any difference to me.

1st - thank you for your service. You have probably experienced more in service to our country than a vast majority of forum junkies.

England and Australia certainly do have restrictive gun ownership laws.
N. Korea, Iran, Egypt, Yemen, China have laws that would incarcerate you for speaking out at all against the government.
What I am asking specifically is - What do you see, in your community, that leads you to believe something will happen? Has there been a legislation change? Are authorities "checking up" on permits and inventories? Are any authority agencies beefing up personnel? Have any agencies began monitoring inventory that you know of?
Prices of guns & ammo have gone up. Is this due to additional taxes, like the nearly-cost-prohibitive cigarette taxes? Are more tax hikes pending? Are the permit prices due for a rate hike that will make them cost prohibitive?
I simply would like some specifics, rather than vague feelings of "something wicked this way comes."
