Survival bow

Looks to me like it would be great for small game. I wounder if you could make one homemade?

I suppose its possible, but I have no idea what the limbs are made out of. I thought it was fiberflass, but its not. the limbs fit into the riser and the string well, same as longbows.

Just got my 7 yr old a compound model of that!!! Yesterday. The little freak is hitting targets at 20 yards constantly. Natural ability I guess. but it is powerful for its size. the fiberglass arrows are junk though.

That does look pretty neat! I wish it wasn't yellow, and didn't have "lil' Soux" written on it, but still that is a cool idea! The one thing that has tended to make me steer away from bows in the past, is the amount of space they take up.

Are there any particular products you would recommend? I have to admit, I like the idea of a bow that comes apart and stores away in such a small space. Is there such a bow with a stronger pull?

The 15lb bow you just happen to have in your bag with you is more useful than the 45lb bow that is back at your house.

Seriously, this topic interests me. I like the idea of compact bows, I'd be interested to know what the best option is.

I have been using this bow for awhile and i would recommend it to anyone. The pull is 22# and the limbs can be switched out for a higher pull. I think the legal minimum for hunting is 24# so i only use this for target practice. I'm still trying to get used to shooting a bow, I'm right handed and left eyed.

I agree I do carry a compound, but I made a sling for it to keep it outta the way and getting fatigued carrying by hand. The toy compount is great for my son as far as learning archery and all, but to actually kill may be difficult and definatly lucky. But in all fairness, I guess it would be somewhat of a decent survival bow. If not humpin the bush specifically for hunting or entertainment value, then I guess it may be handy to have the kiddie bow packed.

Bear use to make the Patriot. It is a 45lb 3 piece takedown. They pop up on ebay alot and are usually sold in the 50 60 dollar range.

those are nice kids toys, but a 3 piece takedown recurve takes up little space, and is available in any common weight.

i'm working on a takedown longbow right now [slowly, whenever i get around to it]. target draw will be about 45 or 50lb, with limbs of 28". total cost: under $20 in materials. the rest is just time.

even with my limited skills, a shorter draw length would easily allow shorter limbs, and might still be well suitable for a small gamer.
