    Default Crash and Rick

    Has anyone heard from them?

Neither has been on the forum since December.

I have corresponded with Crash once in late Dec. I haven’t heard from him since. I haven’t heard from Rick at all. I sent you a PM. Didn’t know if you had gotten it. It seems there are some issues. I can’t access the site with Chrome or Firefox. DuckDuckGo works fine.

I hope they are OK and have no medical issues. Can't imagine why they would simply evaporate into the ether so I fear something is keeping them from the computer.

Is anyone else from the normal crew still checking in?

    Max, are you out there?

The site is still a no go on Chrome although it seems to work on Firefox. I know it works on DuckDuckGo. Only other posters I’ve seen besides some Spammers are RangerXanatos, DSJohnson, S. Potts and Phaedrus.

Crash was online on 1-24-24. Still a long time from Rick though.

Crash is fine. Most survival forums wilderness posts are diminished considerably. Most likely another side effect of the pandemic. The SHTF aspect of survival is still very popular.

We all saw it coming. Wilderness survival forum posts started becoming a "what should I buy" post. They never wanted to hear "well, what are your skills?".

I suspect we have millions of "survivalists" with a closet full of the very best brand new survival gear. The logic that the guy showing his "best survival knife" was showing a brand new one he'd never used seemed lost to everybody.

The dumbing down of western culture continues.

Funny thing. Several years ago, I was getting my wilderness first aid certification. Around the campfire we all were sharing, a guy passed one of his knives around to show others. It was a nice knife. When I got it, I was handling it, felt the edge, the point, etc… the owner looks at me and says, “you know, I have never touched the blade on that knife…”

He was saying that he was so careful with the knife he didn’t even want fingerprints on the steel. It was one of those knives he’d never use and put in a safe but yet he brought it out into the woods for 3 days and 2 nights. I’d never be able to own such a knife that I was so afraid to touch.

Wild. I mean, I have a lot of knives, but I don't take safe queens into the woods.

I agree. I own lots of knives from cheap moras to expensive customs. I tend to use my knives, but if I were to keep a safe Queen, I certainly wouldn’t bring it out to the woods for a few days.

If one of these Admins doesn't get these guys, who's the Admin that is supposed to get them banned?

Chris, Rick, and Crashdive are the only ones that can do so. Sarge is no longer with us.

Just logged on to satisfy a whim. Haven't been active since 2018. Sorry to see the forum struggling and that Sarge is gone. May he rest in Peace.

There ain't too many problems you can't fix with $500 or a 30-06.

Him-"Whats the best knife for survival?"
Me-"the one that's in your pocket."
Him-"I don't have one in my pocket."
    Me-"Exactly."

My close friend VnVet is also absent since december. He doesn't reply my emails and doesn't pick up his cellphone.
I was able to track his ID and location back to his town and adress at Georgia, and I also found are very reliable info that he is no longer with us either... For example, his truck was recently sold.
But I do not wish to disturb his wife and (grown up) kids just to confirm my suspicions, first because I do not know them, and second because if he is indeed gone this will be a sore point.

I own some stuff, and I know some things. But that's all.

That’s a shame about VnVet. I was thinking he wasn’t too far from me and I probably stomp around in his area.

I've been busy with my new job but I still try to pop in to check up on the place. Things have been slow but it's a great forum, I want to help keep it alive.
