    Default Sole overnighter

I got to go camping for the first time in a very long time. So off I went and went primitive. It rained on me the entire time I was hiking in. No electricity and the only running water was the creek next to me. I cooked steak, peppers, mushrooms, dried pinto beans and cornbread. And I ate lots of fruit. Pears, apples, nectarines, and even a watermelon. Went past many waterfalls and even Romans den cave. Here are some pictures.

Superb terrain choice, Camp Toccoa is a historical place!

Nice. Living in Florida I heed the heat advisories. Best to stay indoors betwee 11 AM and November 2nd.

The temps were in the 90s. Combine that with the humidity and it was almost unbearable. It was 2 miles of a hike in the rain to where I set up. My shirt never got dry, even when placing it above the fire. The hike back out was horrible and took me over an hour with a couple of stops. Next time I’m going to go lighter. This time I wanted to try a few new things. I took a small backpacking cot. It was fine as long as you are a back sleeper but I toss and turn. Also, ants kept crawling on me. One tried going into my ear. I also tried a new filter bottle. It’s the Bachgold which is very similar to the Grayl but cheaper. Didn’t have to wait for water to boil, just fill the bottle up and press the insert down like a French press. Figured I couldn’t wait for boiling water to cool down to replenish what I lost. The filter bottle, boiling, and all the fruit couldn’t keep me hydrated enough judging by my urine color. Was originally going to stay for two nights but decided on just the one.

Imagine those poor men training in that heat and humidity. Same for the men doing desert training at Camp Cooke. Even today at Ft. Polk. Pity the load out.

Nice adventure and great pics. I was a bit hesitant about looking at the one mentioning bathing. I was afeared as to what my precious eyeballs might purview.

    I always forget my camera.
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.
