Get all the info you can. But don't trust one source on the internet. Do your homework. That looks like one of some we ate last year but...

I bought some mushroom plugs last year. They're wooden dowels you pound into a log. Much easier than chasing around the woods. Morels are notoriously hard to cultivate. We don't have them here but we do in the mountains. I'd hike miles for those.

We used to go mushroom hunting. We'd hike out and fly back....

The 60s were like that. If you can remember the 60s, then you probably weren't doin' stuff like that.

My experimentation with psychedelics was short lived and not exactly moonbeams and unicorns.

The only psychedelic I ever experienced was a high school French teacher that thought I was a heathen...or paien as the case were. She wasn't far wrong. She generally had a fit each time I walked into the classroom. My greeting of Hola each time I walked in probably didn't help my cause.

French teacher. I spent more time in the office than in her class. It was first period and Miss Pear was not a morning person. She did not have a sense of humor unlike moi.

This thread makes me wonder what happened to old Paine?

The last we heard of him he was floating down the Yukon on a log raft with a bunch of "shroom junkies".

Some Community College hold classes/seminars a few time a year on wild edibles and mushroom identification (at least here in the PNW).

The irony, I was just listening to a Podcast about a gal that made for her friends Mushroom risotto, from the mushrooms she had gathered.

Turns out what she prepared were Death Caps, she ended up with a Liver transplant few days later from it, and landed all of her friends in the hospital too.

Mushrooms are one of those things that differ from region to region. It may look like the same mushroom, but it aint...

Personally i am too scared !@@#$less to gather my own mushrooms, too many horror stories, some even, from my own family. Considering the lack of nutrients, & calories of mushrooms, IMP it just aint worth the risk.

Personally, trying to pick my own landed me in the ER twice, one of which what I thought was an edible mushroom turned out to be in the psychedelic variety. Let's just say that the unintended trip was not a vacation. Pun intended...
