    Default The Mosquito Apocalypse...

    April 23, 2021. Not a buzz.
April 24, 2021 it started raining. May 1, it started raining in earnest.
Weather guy says we've had almost 20" for May. We ran out of places for water to drain to 10" ago...

That's when the mosquitos started. After three weeks of battling them I have decided that I'm just going to have to wait them out. I have been sequestered inside my house more in the last three weeks than I was during the Covid-19 Apocalypse. Today I had smoke fires going downwind, and had sprayed and fogged all the insecticide I had on hand. I had them knocked down. Then the wind picked up and blew another hoard in from the swamp. They swarmed me when I was down in the garden. I had failed to put deep woods off on my lips so they went directly for that. I got back to the house and took a shower and haven't gone outside again.

We need a crop duster to hit the swale with DDT or napalm or something....

Yeah...Another reason I don't live in the South. We don't have hordes of mosquitos. We just have a half dozen very large mosquitos that usually ring the door bell then they are hungry. I have a no soliciting sign on the front door so they rarely bother me.

When I retired and got rid of most of my pest control equipmment, this is one piece that I kept. It sees regular use.

I use Talstar (I think the commercial name is Talstar Pro) and add an insect growth regulator to it (Gentrol) so the bastiges can't reproduce.
