    Default Ocala National Forest Camp

Great weather for our time in the woods. Highs around 80 with a gentle breeze and temps around 50 at night. Perfect sleeping weather.

Great pictures. What you need to make it all perfect is some snow. We have plenty that we can send you !
True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.

And to think I used to get paid to do that in my misspent youth; without the amenities, of course. That's living!

Who was it, Nietzsche? That said, "if you look into the fire, the fire looks back into you."

No, but I see dinosaurs in those swamp pics. Gambian rats, pythons, yeah, he's camped waaaaaay too close to swamp water for my comfort.

Everything looks back. Accepting and enjoying that is what it is all about.

Ah, just assume you are and go with it.

That is a nice area. Spent a lot of time there in my youth.

Dispersed camping, out in the boonies, away from the maddening crowd. The camp was good, and I got to visit with some old friends I don't see so often. Food was tops, weather was nonpareil.

You worry about the wrong things my friend.

It's the little things that'll drive you insane. Gnats. Skeeters. Poisonous caterpillars. Centipedes. Are you taking notes? Deer flies. Horseflies. And those unbelievably small pygmy rattlers.

So fret all you want over the Repticilicus Giganticus. It's those little things that will mess your camp up.

And once again, come on down! No one has ever died on my camps (well almost.) T
