Transporting and boiling water with NO supplies ?.

This might be a stupid subject that has been touched up on before, but what the heck, I'm having trouble finding exactly what I'm looking for. From what I've read and seen it seems common knowledge to boil your water if in doubt, but that's about all they tell you. I read a thread that had some great ideas for making containers to boil water in, but they seem complicated and very difficult to achieve without a hardy knife. In a real survival situation the average joe will not have a knife and most likely nothing to start fire with. Now assuming he can figure out how to make fire on his own, and also make tools capable of manipulating his surroundings, what would be ideal to use/make for transportation? What would be the best method of making the tool itself? Sharpening rocks? Tying a rock onto something sturdy to give length or would something handheld be more ideal? I would think the structure built to actually boil the water in would be somewhat easier, and it seems like these other equally important subjects are rarely touched up on. Also, in an even worse situation, on an island or somewhere where sea water is your only option and distillation is your best bet, what could be used simply utilizing what nature provides? Hope that's not too many questions.

If I were you, I would hang out very near the Hooghly River there in India. It would supply a lot of water. If you are not concerned about being immodest, you could soak your dhoti in the river and transport it wet. that would allow you to carry some water with you. OR....you could just ask someone for a bottle of water. I'm sure there are plenty of folks around Kolkata.

He said he has run out of water and don't know what to do. Rick says he lives in India and apparently over there they don't have pickups or Subarus or Jeeps so he can't reach in the back and fetch his pot and machete like a regular person would. He don't even have a life straw so he can suck water out of a puddle or a Bic lighter in his gear. He forgot his knife too!

A man that forgets his knife might just consider not contributing to the gene pool anyway, and dehydration is as good a way to Darwin out the heard as any I suppose.

Apparently if things go real bad he is going to instantly revert to the stone age and start chopping stuff up with sharp rocks.

Rick thinks he should sop up some water with his dress, carry it along and squeeze it out as he needs it. That sounds about reasonable for someone that don't carry a pocket knife.

Personally, I can't imagine much more repugnant than a big gulp of water in India....

From some of the ordinary things I've read about India, I'm not real sure (nor am I remotely curious) about what exactly would constitute "Indecent Exposure", but I suppose it could be accomplished with a wet dhoti and a hong....
