    Heh, it's a different world.
True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.

Yep. Retired a year ago and haven't even made a dent in my to do list. Where the heck did I find time to work?

My prayer everyday was, Lord help me do my job and don’t let me get someone hurt. Glad that worked and glad that’s over.

Today is your first day of vacation. Come to think of it, it's mine too. Congratulations, you won't look back. And Crash is right, I have no idea how I had time to work.

Retirement is a misnomer. I retired in 2014 and have been working my azz off (literally and figuratively) since then. It's great! I wake up every morning and look forward to the tasks of the day. The "to do" list will outpace you. As soon as I figured out I wasn't going to get it all done, I got a lot happier.

I had an older friend and I drove by his house one day and he was out breaking a sweat hacking at a tree limb that had fallen over on his house. I stopped and told him to hold off a min and I would bring my chainsaw and knock it out for him. He politely refused, I said it wasn't a problem, he refused, I politely insisted, he matter of factly refused saying, "Listen Alan, I've got the rest of my life to cut up this limb. Thank you very much but I've got this under control".

I think about him and what he said every time I get frustrated with a project. I too, have the rest of my life to do the things "I" want to do, even if it's cutting up a tree limb.

Good luck in your retirement. It's really a fun thing.

    Alan

Yeah, Alan. Just remember, when you stop, you stop.

    Congarts! Quite a coincidence.
Sept 1 was also the first day as a free man for Mr. B. He is ecstatic, says this is the first time since before college that he feels 0 pressure and no low level anxiety most of the time.

    So far it's been great.

We had a big road trip planned following retirement, and then CV hit. Canada is still closed. We decided to change our road trip plans (for about the fourth time) and are leaving in a few weeks. Sooooooo looking forward to it.

Thanks reb, I know we'll really relax as soon as we can get the hell outta Dodge or rather, NYC.
The plan is to put our place on the market and leave as soon as it sells. Of course, now is the worst time to sell but we don't care. Don't want to be here a minute longer than we have to. 32 years was enough.

I see there’s been an exodus. I hope y’all come out alright on the sell.
