    Default where's the line?

National weather service issued a severe storm warning, 3"-5" of snow for the three counties north of me.

How does the snow figure out where the county line is located?

Since the line is only 300 meters from my door the storm got a little confused and dropped part of that on me also.

Nobody pays attention to the weather readers, especially not the weather.

FL citrus growers thought they knew where the freeze line was. Mother Nature proved them wrong.

At least somebody got what they were predicting.

In Denver, people just flat-out ignore the weather reports. They actually got this one right (2-5") but it might have just dropped it all to the west before it got here. I will generally look at the weather the day before and then go ahead and do what I've planned regardless.
True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.

We got five inches of snow followed by rain. Auto snow removal. Sweet.

I call 'em weather guesses, not predictions. I look at AccuWeather.com, but I call it GuessuWeather.

I hate it (well, not HATE, but you get the point) when people say, "It's supposed to ______ today." It's not SUPPOSED to do anything. If I catch myself saying it that way, I switch it over to, "Some guy on the radio said it's going to _____ today."

I sorta understood people rushing to WalMart at the first flake of snow in Alabama. It was almost apocalyptic. But they do it here in Denver, too. Grocery and department store shelves suddenly clear. How long does it take Californians and Floridians to get used to the fact that it snows in Colorado?

It is the same here in North KY. On the north/south scope of things we are only about 20 miles south of the same line Indianapolis sits on! We're up north!

We have brutal winters but everyone acts like they are not going to return from year to year and snow is a great surprise and bewilders everyone.

All of the teachers here are crying. No snow day. This arrived on Friday night and will be gone by Monday morning!

Yes, teachers look forward to snow days more than the kids.

I have never understood anyone dying of a heart attack shoveling snow. It's snow. It will melt. There is no place I need to go so bad that I have to shovel snow. Come to think of it I don't need to shovel anything. I admit I have shoveled my fair share of sh1t in my life but I got paid to do that. They even provided the shovel. Hard to complain if they give you the shovel.

I have one dog. Every day, like clockwork, he makes one pile in the back yard (if he doesn't accidentally escape into the neighbor hood). Every day, like clockwork, I get the shovel and pick up that one pile and put it in the bucket set aside for that purpose only. That is the full extent of my shovel use. One day I will use that shovel to bury that dog. Then my shovel use will drop dramatically! I have yet to shovel one shovel of snow. They can put it on my headstone. "He never shoveled snow".

Won't that be sort of redundant in Texas? Now, if you lived here people would applaud when they read it.

    Location, location, location.

Town where I used to live REQUIRED one to clear the sidewalk in front of their house.

They could write you a ticket for not shoveling your snow.

Plus my late wife had one of those jobs where you had to show up no matter what and 12"-30" of snow was not an excuse. Until I came along the poor woman had never owned a 4wd vehicle. The drive had to be cleared for 75' to get her little Ford Escort to the street. Usually that involved shoveling clear the burm created when the snowplow cleared the main street. That could be 3'-4' tall.

We had been married about two weeks when the first snow of that magnitude fell on this old Tennessee boy. She contemplated the digging and I handed her the keys to my Cherokee. 4wd, heated seat, drove better in the snow than on dry pavement. She blasted through that burm of snow like she was filming a Jeep commercial.

The next vehicle she purchased had 4wd and heated seats from the factory.

One of the finest purchases I ever made was a Troybilt 2 stage snowblower with electric start. Did I mention I don't shovel snow?

Yeah. Denver will charge you for not shoveling. Black ice is from hell. And when it gets you, the crows laugh at you.

Fortunately, there's no pavement on our side of the street (snrk, snrk, snrk).

Actually, I didn't like having to move that last time but I can't complain. Great landlord, no shoveling, bus stop right in front of the house.

OK tonight the snow missed the freekin' line and crapped white stuff all over me!

It rained all day then froze then turned to snow. Two inches at the moment and 5 more hours ahead.

There's a half inch of ice under this crap!

Serves me right for buying new camping gear. I'll never get to use it.

According to the local weather we are all going to die!

My only saving grace is crap runs downhill. The way I figure it, this stuff I have should reach you pretty soon. I looked at the map. You're downhill from me.
