Just came back from the north maine woods after spending about ten days there. My SIL is stationed there in the Navy as a SERE instructor. I flew in to Boston and checked out the USS Constitution. Then we drove up to Mt Katadin and spent the night in a adirondack shelter and then into the North Maine Woods and spent a night there.
The SIL had a bear hunt booked at Oxbow Outfitters. We spent the week in a little log cabin. Sadly the first day of the hunt the houndsman lost his best dog. It took to the next Saturday to bag a bear. It took the other dogs that long to learn to work together.
In the afternoons we hunted partridge, bagged five and found three moose sheds. Went for some hiking, it's real easy to find my fitness level or lack of when hiking with a 29 year old SERE instructer. Dang, I need to start working out.
I'll try to scrounge up some photos.
