You left out one of the most important methods,

    Road flare and paraffin!

    Just kidding, another excellent video.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

You laugh, but I just got back from a camping trip that saw biblical rains on Thursday. It it weren't for a propane torch I would have broken out the road flares (yes, I travel with them). Sure, with a lot of effort, simpler methods would have worked.......but it was time for a fire and adult beverages so time was of the essence.

The UCO candle lantern suffices to dry out sticks in a very few minutes. Quite often, no fire is actually needed, ya know. It's just desired. So do without, no big deal. You're not supposed to be out there without proper shelter and clothing, and if you are smart, sleep gear, too, along with a rental satellite phone. Fire aint gonna help ya if your leg's broken, can't get to fuel, etc.

You can find a wide variety of widths and lengths of ferro rods at Firesteel.com which has been around for a dozen years. One of these rods can make thousands of fires and is very reliable.

I wouldn't buy anything from that website. The owner is a thief. Just my opinion of course and does not reflect the opinion of anybody else or this website.

All firesteels today come from China. Even Light My Fire and Mora get their firesteels from there. The difference between one fire steel and another is not much more than a flash in the pan.

They are all cheap Chinese ones.......some people slap a name on them and charge more so that you think you are getting something special. You are not.

Seems like this practice is happening more and more, I've noticed a lot of products on Amazon that all look the same. Recently noticed pocket knife sharpeners that all have the same design, but different name.

so WHAT is stupid about being properly prepared, when it's so easy and cheap to be so, and the price for not being prepped can be your (obviously worthless) life?

Interesting that Highlo would take offense at something said about Tigrate. Oh, wait. They are one and the same. Yep, really strong with this one.
