Yeah. My grandkids are all in nearby towns. This is the second shooting we've had. The kid actually picked the wrong classroom. The teacher was a four year defensive lineman for a college football team. He took 3 rounds, disarmed the kid and still took him down and held him until police arrive. He took a round in the abdomen, one in the hip and one in the forearm. As of this evening he is doing okay. There was a 13 year old girl shot and another student suffered a broken ankle. I don't know their conditions. I'm just thankful no one was killed.

As it turns out, I grew up 30 miles from SIU. Small world, huh?

That teacher is a damn good man. He's welcome at my fire any time.

I'm still waiting to hear what caliber of weapon he used. The teacher was out of the hospital in two days after being shot 3 times. Once in the abdomen. Not to negate the man's heroism in any way but that sort of says smaller caliber to me. I wouldn't want to face a .22 point blank and have to charge into it so I give the man his dues and I doubt he had any idea or time to give thought to caliber but it will be interesting to find out what the kid used. The girl is doing well. I understand she was shot in the chest near the clavicle.
