Hi all, just some of my interest: forging - have a simple charcoal forge I made myself in the backyard under shade trees with a NC bigface anvil. Other then the anvil there was not much cost to set it up. Just a lot of hard work. Want to make varies tools and knifes. General fitness, running, fishing and long early Sunday rides on my Harley. Also enjoy playing around with electronics and making things. Well, enough for now. PS - love primitive firemaking, cowboy coffee and cast iron cooking.

Curious what fuel do you use most with the cast iron? I have a stove top dutch oven and love it but thinking of getting one with the little legs and upturned lid for use with charcoal.

    Thanks, Dale

We cook generally on open fires with these pots, generally either Wood, or charcoal... but we use the actually coal embers to cook with them, very slowly...

Welcome home. Coals from the fire have worked well forever.

Been having fun starting a fire in a charcoal chimney using oak wood and making my own charcoal. Hurricane Irma provided lots of oak and I enjoy the workout splitting the oak using just a full size ax and a 6 lb one hand drill hammer.
