    Default Hello From Maine

Hi there! Kasey here from Maine.

I love backpacking, camping, practicing & teaching primitive skills.
I recently started up an Adventure & Survival School for kids, removed link
We help kids build confidence in themselves through hands-on courses, community, and wild adventures, in a safe environment, away from electronic devices & social media.
We combat the avid indoorsmanship of our digital age.

My favorite place is the Maine woods and love Baxter State Park.

I prefer canoes over kayaks. Flint & steel is my favorite fire starting method.

    I love to fly fish.

    Self-admitted - I'm a "hack-of-all-trades"

Hoping to pick up some new skills/advice from here.

    Thanks!

    Best,

    Kasey Marsters

Hello and welcome. I had to remove the link in the body of your post as it violates forum rules. The link in your signature is fine.

    Welcome From Southern Africa,
I am involved this side with wilderness survival, and also started helping out and doing some of the courses for our survival school this side.
It's also one of my passions to try get people from my age and younger interested at being proffiencent out in the bush..
you would be surprised at how many guys and gals from my age range 35-40 and younger actually never really grew up playing out in the bush or doing scouts or actually having any clue what to do out there.. it was a bit more popular when I was young with scouts and such, and even further back very very much a thing that would be past down father to son to be taught about the land and bush etc..
but yeah pretty much from about the 80ies onward with the digital age really up and coming And urban cities and being in town started being far more attractive for other reasons, and also Military service stopped being compulsory about the mid 90ies.. ( I missed it by a few years so wasn't an absolute requirement) so yeah A lot of guys my age range and younger would not have had the exposure to bush living or taking care of oneself out in the bush..

Awesome! What's your favorite part about it? Biggest need you are meeting/running into working with kids?

I work mainly with students who are above 16 years old. Reason ...overhere, this is where they start to get into trouble and are influenced with the gadgets, wifi and so on. However I enjoy most is working with University Under Graduates.
I teach Prepared Survival mostly. I only teach them Primitive Survival once they understand what Survival actually is and they understand the basics.
My fav part of the lessons is usually helping the kids to develop mental strength..making them "braver" when they are alone in the jungle in the dark.
