    Default Hello Everyone

Hello everyone, I have been lurking here for awhile off and on. I just turned 34 a couple of days ago and I feel like if I don't do something actively to get out there off the grid I never will at this point. I am an Army Vet and although my MOS did not teach me much for survival, my regular training definitely did, lol. I was enlisted actively as a water purification specialist. I know its not the most griping story telling MOS but in Iraq, you do a little bit of everything so I at least got a diverse experience from it. I did complete among the top 10 in my AIT class (of 30) but i paid most attention to the process of filtering and purifying naturally.

I have lived in MD, VA, TX and PA (currently). I have an intermediate "working" knowledge of survival skills but I am seriously lacking on the foraging and edibles areas. A 1,000 word description of a leaf is still just a leaf, but a picture tells you 'DO NOT WIPE WITH THIS ONE" lol!

I have been camping and "surviving" in the woods for as long as i can remember, building camps and shelters, hunting, fishing, etc etc. The longest I stayed consecutively was 8 months, I had a nice little camp about 4-5 miles in the woods from my dads house. I had a nice setup, fed myself with small game and had a clean spring feeding into a decent trout stream close by. Now, I say consecutively because I spent everyday and slept there but I made frequent trips back home for other supplies, and I had visitors (unfortunately) too often.

I want to be able to go out year round, preferably alone or a very small (2-3) group. So im here to hopefully pick up on the knowledge im lacking and maybe pitch in on some things i already know. from what I have seen most of you are already very knowledgeable and quite a few have the solid "Boots on the Ground" experience I am looking forward to.

So, yeah, that's me in a nutshell. Anything else feel free to ask, otherwise I'll see ya around.
