    very cool video, only thing I am asking is why create feather sticks, then throw all that grass on top of the lit feather stick... could have just ignited the grass with the ferro-rod.... lol just curious.

    Nice job...and moved right along....

    Can't say I make feather sticks much, either....but like to do "whittlin'"....Kind of a keep hand busy, time passing task...that give you a good tinder base....or spoon or what ever...

    I have never had the need for feather sticks in Southern Africa.. different climate, different indigenous trees.. just fascinating how people would do things a bit different in different areas.

    I think it is also wise to maintain a healthy tie to the grid. One should strengthen ties to neighbors and community, especially those who are trying to divorce themselves from the rat race. We're all in this together, and sticking closer with those who feel likewise leads us further and further from that rat race.

    If it is not a challenge, it is easy to lose sight of the goal, but if you make it too much of a challenge, it becomes easier to just step away from it. Start with baby steps, and you would be surprised how quickly you start jogging.
