Default Mystery Tree - Help with Identification

Anyone know what kind of tree this is? I thought it might be Yellow Birch or Honey Locust, but I can’t find seeds of any kind on the tree or on the ground to know for sure. Several limbs stem off from the base, with the older tree bark cracked, dark, and scaly, and the younger bark is smooth and gray/brown with horizontal pores (lenticels). Located in eastern North Carolina. Thank you all for any help!

I think you are looking at a young wild cherry tree. Check your books for that. The leaves and the bark both match. At least that family.

Thank you Rick and Fixit! That would make sense for why I can’t find any seeds yet! 😊👍 🌳🍒🍒🍒
