Captain Mayne Reid
In my search for some fresh wintertime reading material I came across author by the name of Mayne Reid. Mr Reid was a very prolific writer from the mid 1800s. The writings seem to have a "woodsman" slant to them but I haven't really read much of his writings to know that for sure. There is a plethora of stories and writings on project gutenberg
