I have to think that being a wizard on a day like to today in, say, 1027 AD or some odd date like that when an understanding of the planets centered around pancakes would not have been the best of positions.

Frankly, Crash, the clouds and beach are pretty doggone breathtaking!
True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.
Crash. What was your setup like. I'll want to do some sunspot images later. Looks like your setup can bring those out.

I used a Nikon Coolpix 510 (older camera) with a solar filter. The filter was relatively cheap - bought it from B&H Camera. I believe this is the one I used (you just need it wide enough to slip over the lens) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...ns_filter.html
My next camera (at least for now) will be the Nikon Coolpix 900 which should give much more detail of sun and moon shots.

Not in the wine press you moron!!! Step out. Out.
Pray tell where do they getteth these yokels?
Thanks. I used a filter for mine - I just can't get that kind of magnification with my cell phone. My telephoto lens would be rather excruciating to use with a filter. I was impressed with the clarity of yur photographs.
