Oh man, flashback to when grapefruit juice came in cans that you opened with the little triangle dent maker can opener.
I keep more than that in just my pantry now.
    Nice find!
My parents were back-to-the-landers as much as we could be and always purchased in bulk when possible. As kids we used to love the quarterly bread run to the Hostess factory to buy the day old stuff at half price for the freezer. That meant......Ring Dings!!!

Did kinda laugh at that as well.......local bakery had bulk bread rolls and bun's the same way...

Must have been 11 years old before I really had "fresh bread" in bag form the store....was always frozen and thawed out...LOL

You either baked you own.....or bought it from the bakery...
Much of the "canned food" in our house when I was growing up was home canned.

That sure seems like a lean ration. But, it would have been better than nothing. Who would have thought then that Detroit today would look like a nuclear bomb had hit it?

“There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag … We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language … and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”

Ahhhh. The good ole church key. You had to remember to clean it after opening a can of oil for your car before opening that grapefruit juice.

I still have a few of them. I think one is a Falstaff beer opener. I'll have to look. Yeah, cool find.

The lady the runs the small town, waste pick-up location, in our the little town, at "THe Place"...
Was fighting a cap on a beer bottle while sorting the glass recycling....was twist off, ..but someone had put it back on...and was stuck.

I was dumping mine....told her she needed a "church key"...She said "What?........Never heard that?"

Later I was flea market hunting found a lunch bag.... with 5-Falstaff combination bottle and can openers for a buck.

Bought it and hung two on shoe laces....and gave them to her.

That was a couple of years ago....they are still hanging above the bottle bins....

Never heard it called a Church Key. Ours hangs from a magnet on the fridge door. They don't seem to sell good hard cider with a twist off cap. LOL. And we still use the punch end for the cans of chicken or beef broth when making soup or stew. No sense using a can opener and slopping that stuff all over the place.

Back when I was a kid one of the old time outdoor magazines, Sports Afield, Outdoor Life, Field & Stream type publications did an article on all the different things you could use a "church key" for. I still remember them flattening out a church key with a rock, sharpening the point on a flat rock, and making a spear from it.

They also made a fishing lure from one.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?
