    Default Surviving in Texas

Howdy, I've been a Hunter, Fisherman, Outdoorsman all my life. I don't do survival type stuff unless I absolutely have to to survive, but I like to be prepared. I can't recall ever truly being in a survival type situation but I have used many of the skills I learned in 63 years doing the things I enjoy. Most of my activities are in South Texas brushland, lakes, and coastal bays. I don't go offshore because get seasick (and it doesn't go away). For many years I did all of my activities with my three sons so I made sure I was prepared to take care of them. Now, I mostly go by myself (much to #1 wife's dismay) so my preparedness has to be geared to taking care of myself.

I hope to glean information from this forum and possibly add some dimension to it as well.

I only have #1 wife. I will only have #1 wife. Unlike others I know, I have learned my lesson.

I only had #1 wife. She wouldn't allow any more and I couldn't handle any more.

That is just God's way of telling you that you shouldn't live there. If temps are over 100 or below 0 there will be a for sale sign in the front yard. I'm too old to play that game.

Mr. McDaniel, sir. Welcome to the forum. It sounds like to me that you will enjoy the climate here, at least I hope you do. We have several folks. as I am sure you have already figured out, who do a lot of "water related" camping/outings. Canoes, kayaks, and those stand up surf boards things even. Nowadays I am more of a johnboat kind'a guy but I still take my old canoe out from time to time. Again Welcome to the forum.
