Cabin broken into
Just got to the mountains. They jimmied the window open and got a few whitewater boats and (right now) an unknown amount of stuff. They cut the chain on the gate. We just turned around and went back to town and a motel room. Kelly is going to file a report tomorrow with Barney Fife here. I'm unpacking the AR-15 and going to the land in the morning.
I am pissed.
That sucks. Maybe I should come up and hunt the bastiges down.

That really sucks......Always seem like a violation....
I look at it as everything is expendable.....just don't do damage.
Had the trailer broken into (before cabin)...young kids drank a bunch of my collection of miniature booze bottles.......and got caught.
Cabin had door smashed in.....went thru stiff....and took some booze (pattern?)
Not much else to steal......don't leave guns or money...TV and radio are older heavy models.....
So got really lucky not much else damage....
Barney Fife out there is a nice guy....but CSI wasn't gonna show up....
Neighbor...broke into as well found a 16 year olds girls driver license in the driveway when st snow melted.....but don't know if any thing was solved.

All they are is a freaking thief...anyone that has their place broke into and position stolen, property destroyed....look at it vastly different the bleeding heart reading an article about a poor misunderstood "mountain man".

This is way my sheds are equipped with Harbor Freight Tools...and yard sale appliances.
Last night just go a text and pic of my from steps at the cabin.....from the neighbor as he was leaving after a couple of week of being out there....
Said " Everything look good.... catch ya later"
We all watch each others stuff.

When I lived in Los Angeles, my wife and I owned a cabin up in the Sierra in an ancient homestead ranch turned vacation home area, surrounded by the Sequoia Nat'l. Forest. A number of "rustics" lived in the nearby forest and subsisted on welfare, pot, and occasional odd jobs on the mountain.
Although we never lost anything, a few neighbors had their cabins broken into when they were not there.
Cops (sheriff) were 50 miles away. It was well known around that a couple of guys were doing the break in work, but not much could be done about it as there was no concrete evidence. There was a retired U.S. Army veteran, 13 years Special Forces, who lived up there year 'round. He decided to go talk to the two young "alleged" thieves. He made it clear they would be far better off if they just moved away and not come back.
They seemed to believe him as they disappeared. The thievery stopped.
