1 that I've heard multiple people say that horrified me was "any mushroom that grows on a dead hardwood tree is safe to eat"- that is definitely not true...
Another one I have seen in a few different survival books is to pay attention to what plants wildlife eats... that is also dangerous, as many animals can survive and thrive eating plants that will kill a person(or at the very least, make them extremely sick) Now, paying attention and watching the signs for a water source is not a bad idea- but NEVER assume a plant is safe to eat because you saw an animal eat it!

Aaaarg. There's six seconds of my life I'll never get back. It took that long for the title to appear.
Saw it on the TV back when...supposed to be a re-enactment of a real person doing it....
Kinda lost interest....and changed to watching Mike and Ruth...

Huh?
No way man. He's gotta be kidding. That dude has really lost his blanking mind, I swear. Really, there's something wrong with him.
...if this is something that really works, somebody please tell me so I can eat my foot. But I just really don't think so. Oh god...what's wrong with that guy?
(Is eating one's foot a good idea in a survival situation? Is Mr. Grylls gonna do that too?)
