Default Not a knife, but knife related

I like to make a lot of my own tools also, so I was surfing Google looking at various knife sharpeners, noticed they were kind of expensive, a couple I liked was between 5 and 800. Any rate I decided to take this morning to make an knife sharpening attachment for my grinder. There is a few bucks in this one...lol. Not sure how much I will ever use it I have decent luck just doing it by hand.

The 3 sets of 1/4 20 screws in the knife jig, the 1st set are just stops to back the spine of the blade to, the 2nd sets the thickness of the blade, so the blade will be straight and at the same angle on each side, the last set applies the pressure to the jig to keep the blade tight and from slipping. I could of used some smaller machine screws but had the hardware and tap for 1/4 20 handy.

I picked up a 900 and 1300g belt so I sharpened this knife with a gator 400g then went to these trizact belts a 900 and 1300g. I slowed the grinder way down and sharpened this knife 400g 900 then 1300 it was razor sharp straight off the grinder, I went ahead and put it on leather strop. At any rate it worked really good.

Funny thing is I was just think about one i saw on TV....one of those "special offers".....based on a belt sander.

Seems this one is similar.....What do you think....if one does have a belt grinder?
