    Default What's the Limit?

How many EBRs can you buy before it gets weird?

Does the SKS count on the total since it is California/NY legal?
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

As far as I'm concerned, the more the merrier. All you guys having hundreds of those things while I can't even buy one...not even a CA compliant one...
Yeah.... I like that. Just makes our state politicians look stupid.
    Have at it.

the SKS only counts if you paint it flat black
so the definition of a criminal is someone who breaks the law and you want me to believe that somehow more laws make less criminals?

I quit trying to keep them in cabinets long ago. I just put double deadbolt locks on one room and walled over the windows, and it's about full. The gun safes are used for the valuable stuff, the general purpose guns only get single layer protection.

Are Mosins and Lee Enfields to be referred too as California assault rifles from now on. I hear even the bullet buttons are banned come 12/31

I have a "sporter stock", scope and 5 round mag on my SKS right now. It looks pretty sedate in business casual black.

I'll respond with my own question: what's a limit?

And pretty much on the California question. If any of you live in a state that tries to adopt our gun control model, fight it tooth and nail. Too many here have resorted to the abandoning the state for a free one strategy and it can't possibly help.

Well, at least my tastes run more to Single Shot Handi Rifles....

But I think everyone should have at least 3 EBR's min......Deployed and supported.

To think, COMNAVKITCHENSINK directed all semiautomatic rifles be liquidated prior to Hillary becoming Madame President.

Looks like I've got a clean slate when it comes to EBR's. Perhaps I should order a few TPR's just to keep up with the Jones?????? LOL

I do too! Mosins, Lees, Mausers, and such.

Did not say how many of those I have so the number is still unspoken.

If Trump will dispose of the Russian embargo we may all have more Mosins at the old prices, cheap ammo too. It makes me wish I had supported the oligarchs to the tune of a half dozen more spam cans of 54R.

I hear there are also about 80k M1Garand rifles and nearly 200k M1 carbines waiting for release by the new admin in Korea. They will go to CMP and directly into civilian hands.

My new neighbor has a collection. He brought over two sniper rifles with folding stocks that had $3,000 optics on them.

It does require clarification. I have a good deal of EBRs myself. But, what is included is subjective to the definition of EBR.

I've been pondering this and came up to a conclusion. A fella should limit himself to a minimum of at least a dozen EBRs, to no maximum.

At what point does a collection become an arms depot?

Perhaps it's still considered a collection when you have enough time to clean & oil all of them monthly? Once you have to start storing them for future cleaning prior to use, you might be getting into arms depot territory? It may depend on what the circumstances are that drive the question, and what the authority is of the one asking.

    Nope that is not it.

Sorry to say so but a collection has a theme. All U.S. service rifles of WW1, pre-A1 1911 pistols, Winchester rifles built in the 19th Century, single shot buffalo guns, all the Handi-rifle barrel calibers ever made, all the pistols turned down by the government after adoption of the M9.....

Other wise it is just a bunch of guns, not a collection.

No, "everything I can trade for" is not a theme.

I used to have to deal with this when I was running the local museum. Everyone with a piece of junk they did not have room for but did not want to scrap tried to "loan" their junk to the museum hoping it would gain value and they could eventually sell it while we gave then free storage. We were required to strictly define the nature of our collections so we could throw out the trash.

.Well....I don't have "ALL" the Handi Rifle calibers ever made......still missing a few.
But keep in mind.......Collections are never "Done".

    Right!

There is always one out there that you did not know they made, was a custom shop "one off", got engraved at the factory, got special wood,,,,

It appears that my most prolific collection is composed of "knives I could have bought at Woolworths for a dollar in 1957"!

Themes are easy and easy to change. Example, Dan Wesson Collection to/or revolver collection? Could even come up with service revolvers used by the family, etc..... Themes for collections are easily concocted. LOL
