Thread: Looking for fatwood

    Default Looking for fatwood

Hello! Does anyone know of any sites online that sell large pieces of fatwood? I am not talking about the smaller pieces that come boxes that you can buy at the hardware store or LL Bean, but larger pieces. Thank you!

Other than harvesting your own, I do not know of an on-line retailer that sells large pieces.

We have an introduction section were you can tell us where you are from and what your interests are.

Someone might be able to guide you to a source in your general area.

To get big pieces of fatwood you may have to go outside and walk through the woods, dig in the dirt and carry a big nasty crumbling stump back to your car.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

I don't care if he/she introduces themself's, they need an answer. The past few years I have bought off of Ebay, only one time the fat wood was not the best, go for the large flat rate box shipping for the best overall deal.

That's what I did. Then I split it up into those smaller pieces like you buy at the hardware store.

Used to get mine on deer lease in Louisiana..... is and has been a pine plantation......
Lots of stumps and fallen tree that had partially burned.
Matter of fact I carry a Ryobi battery chain saw to cut into carrying size.
Be careful of fire ants...they will eat you up.......

Last couple of batches were from Menards on sale .......4 pounds for $4 bucks.

Is there a reason you need a "bigger than stick size"?

While it may not be necessary to introduce yourself to ask a question, it does make it easier to answer some questions if we know a little about the person asking.

In your answer to his question it was unclear........was that one large piece in that flat rate box, or a lot of little pieces?

Maybe you could get a large piece of regular wood, then feed it lots of danish. (The pastry, not the people.)
