making a walking stick

I have a old hame end laying around so figured it would make a good walking stick top. I whittled it in awhile back and finally pinned it in place today using copper washers and brass rod. The other end I'll put on a chunk of 1 inch emt flattened on one end. Thought about a tobacco spike but that's too pointed for my uses. I lan on scrapping this down a but and staining it with hemlock bark dye and then burnishing it with a chunk of antler and bear grease. I may apply some sort of something to the brass to dull it down, not much for shiny fooferall.

There is white stuff on the ground!!!! Oh, yea, walking stick. Great idea on the hame. That should look great when you are finished.

Got one just like it hanging on the coat rack by the door.

I treated mine with boiled linseed oil.

I put a rubber crutch tip on it due to using it while walking along the road.

Good noggin bopper.

Mine are sometimes longer and mostly found to use at the time.

Have a fancy diamond willow with a fork....as walking stick and rifle rest.

I do use that rubber end....on some doesn't make as much noise.

Did have one that had a spike on the bottom....then fitted the rubber foot into a 2" piece of wood so I could pull it off if necessary.

Used it on walks, to pick up alum cans with the spike.....
Don't know what happened to that one...most likely left leaned up against something, somewhere....LOL

I'm finishing up one with the same top. Must be the great minds thinking alike and all that.

Most likely Randy's "Other" one....either that... or we now have two pairs that are missing the "Other one...."

Actually found out what they were after finding 2 pair at a yard sale.....

Were marked $20 bucks and were taped together.....in 2 pairs of pairs.
Asked if they would take $20 bucks for "both of them".......

Grandpa sitting in the back says...."That's pretty low....What are you gonna do with them?"
Said ," Hang them on my cabin wall...... "

So he says, "Take'em"....
as I was walking away....he says...."You don't even know what they are do ya?"

Realizing what deal I had just got.....I stopped and listened all about horse harness parts.....

That sounds like a challenge to me. He'd probable hung a pair or two in his day.

need a collar too otherwise hames aren't worth a darn, same with a wiffletree or doubletree

If the ball hit the wiffletree in the air without touching the ground it was ruled a home run; if the ball hit the wiffletree on one bounce it was a ground-rule double. Otherwise, it was an out.
