Had to look it up, but by the looks of it, this fungus is mostly a problem in tropical regions. Unless you are just visiting where you posted from - I wouldn't consider it a big issue.
I heard that eating bread infected by ergot might have been the cause of the bizarre behavior of the young ladies of Salem during the witch trials. Hallucinogenic. Don't eat your grass.
