1971? Some of US may have missed that year in America. Perhaps you could give a few highlights that could be followed on the AP News? Maybe even a couple of links to the songs that might have gone unheard?
Every one has heard this one....

He!! Max, I can remember standing at the bus stop waiting for the school bus and hearing Blue Suede Shoes blaring on the transistor radio.
I remember listening to the preacher trying to convince the congregation that Elvis was the Antichrist!
I remember people kicking their kids out of the house over Beatle haircuts.
I saw an interview of Jimmy Page talking about the writing of Stairway To Heaven. They asked him what the song meant.
He said he did not know!
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?
Dad hated the Beatles and my long hair. The beginning of a huge rift.
This thread should be titled: So prove your Geezerdom!!!
Dick Clark's show...American Band Stand....should have had a third category.....besides "It's got a good beat and you can dance to it"......"Good playlist for Cardio therapy"

They ought to start reruns of that. Man, talk about pissing some people off.

The year I was born, the top selling single (according to some encyclopedia yearbook I used to have) was "How Much is that Doggie in the Window." When I graduated from high school, it was Bridge Over Troubled Water (Simon and Garfunkel), and when I finished college it was the theme for Robinhood - Everything I Do, I Do it For You (Bryan Adams). I run into a lot of young people who don't know who Creedence Clearwater Revival or Jethro Tull was. (I tutored for a while a couple of years ago, so I had plenty of opportunities to check.)
True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.
Is it just me or did the guy in the sound room in that look like the Democrats last night...
Not the dems...the media. They really tried to "explain" things. Befuddled.

Wait a second. I missed the CCR post. That should be a crime.
