    It appeared from the picture of the elk that the man had not gutted it before trying to pull it uphill with his ATV. That would have greatly reduced the weight of the elk. Also appeared he did not tie back the antlers toward the elk's rear, which would have precluded the antlers from getting hung up in the brush and ground, etc.

    Shoulda-woulda-coulda, huh?

    Hope the man recovers and enjoys his fresh elk backstrap for Thanksgiving!

    I hear ya......Lucky guy...real lucky.
    Wonder if they stuck tampex in the holes?

    I had to slide a couple down a mountain to a forest trail....and pick it up with banged up old Bronco.....

    Big animals, 400 to 700# to work on by your self.......Gutting helps....removing head...also helps.
    Had help......cut legs and strung pole thru tendons....tied on with wire....so had four corners to hang on to.... to help steer.....don't the hill.
