    Default come on snow

LOL, the last few years the heat has been kicking my arse. So while I'm waiting for snow I need to find a way to be more comfortable in hot weather. I'm looking for a good brand of trousers that are designed for the hot weather and wick water away, if there is such a thing. I normally wear blue jeans. any thoughts?

    hi randyt,
maengun here, try Duluth trading, they have all kinds of work wear for heat and cold, good strong stuff. a bit pricey, but good quality.
a search on the web will find them.

Get yourself a pair of baggy overalls.

They do not cut you in half at the waist, do not sag, do not restrict your movements like jeans and support all the weight in your pockets from the suspender straps.

Due to their lose fit they do not get soaked down with sweat as quickly as jeans.

You can also get them in several fabrics and brands from Walmart denim to Duluth Traders "fire hose" fabric. Dickies makes several weights of fabric in cotton and polyester.

Any time I have rough work to accomplish I wear my overalls.

I going to more Bibs my self, lately....or looser jeans with suspenders....and trying to time my work around the worst of the heat.
My little episode with getting over heated here last Saturday on the tractor at noon-ish, reminds me that I need to be aware.

thanks for the replies. Back when I was a young fella I wore overalls, that was it no shirt, no shoes, no nothing. Can't remember if it was cooler but the heat didn't bother me a lick back then.

    a pair of baggy overalls
    or looser jeans with suspenders
These are my main wardrobe. Have been for years. Decades. My trademark fashion. Love my overalls, and 'spenders. Hate belts, and anything having to be tight enough to stay up on their own, which is what a belt does.

When hiking in the heat I like to wear a lightweight, ripstop, cargo style pants. They dry fast, are comfortable and light. The downside is that they're probably not great (durability wise) for work. For work the cargo pants are a little heavier (but lighter weight than jeans). Still comfortable, but don't dry as fast.

For work in the heat, I like the good ol' summer weight BDU pants. They are cut in a way that provides ample movement, and the ripstop fabric is very durable and breathable. Of course, I still have a good supply of them that Uncle Sam gave me, so the price is right. A good surplus store should have a good selection of used ones. If you get the ol' woodland pattern ones, grease stains don't ever show up if you are working on the car, and grass stains don't show if you are cutting grass.

Heh, yes. Exactly that too. Ripstop weave, and cargo. With 'spenders of course.

I hear a skirt is pretty cool. Lots of airflow. I haven't tried it myself, but you never know.

One of the things I haven't seen mentioned here is your health. For several years I didn't tolerate heat very well at all but could handle the cold pretty well. Then one time I got sick and had to go to urgent care and found out my blood pressure was dangerously high - 204/118 and they wouldn't let me leave the office until they got it to come down. My doctor put on blood pressure meds and a daily baby aspirin. Now that my BP is down to a good level and my blood is thinner due to the aspirin, I tolerate the heat much better. But I get to feeling colder quicker in the winter now so there are some trade offs ! But I can put more clothes on in the winter ! Bottom line is, know that you health matters are under control as it can effect your tolerance of the weather !

thanks for all the replies. I have thought about the health angle. I have my BP checked often and it is good, can't remember exactly the readings but the doc says they are decent middle of the line readings.

One week before I had a massive heart attack I had a full physical and was declared in superb condition!

While I was in the ER hooked up to the monitors and having the attack my BP was normal.

My late wife had normal BP and ruptured her aorta, dying instantly in her hospital bed while hooked to the monitors.

Do not trust BP for telling you how healthy you are, it is a deception.
