been wondering for some time where did some of our fourm members go.
i just don't don't see them anymore? awanita, wilderness medic, tokwan.
not that i'm conspiracy minded or anything it just seems odd that's all.
coyotes listen to them, like children of the night what music they make.

    Yes, Sarge47 recently passed away.

As far as other member - they come and go all the time. Some get busy. Some get their panties in a bunch. Some decide we're not their cup of tea. Some leave on great adventures and are not heard from again. Hope Payne is OK.

I can tell you that Tokwan retired...last I heard from him I think he was working on a book, and spending more time in the wilderness...so he's probably fine, just enjoying a busy retirement.

At least one of the ones you mentioned comes and goes on various fora under different names from time to time for nearly as long as I've been using web forums. Free time comes and goes through portions of our lives.

I get a bit frustrated, as I'm sure many of the Mods do, at discussing the exact same topic over and over.

Best knife, best canoe, best rifle, best hat, blah blah blah.

If you just ask what is the best for everything, you can have all the best gear and never leave your couch. It will still be new when you have to learn how to use it.

ETA- if you are new to wilderness survival/preparedness, then you may need to have these discussions. I don't intend to imply they are not valid discussions. What I mean to imply is that they are tiresome to have over and over.

I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.

Hey...um...like...what's the best shirt for me to wear when camping? Anybody know? Should I go with the flannel, or this sexy silk thing? Which one doesn't make me look fat?

No, you *want* to look fat for camping. Makes you more desirable to share a tent with on a cold night.

I dunno...I don't want the bobcat or bear to think I'm plump.

Well...big and scary, might be a different story. Somebody should market some kind of shirt or back pack accessory which, when activated, instantly creates a very large profile, as if you are some big scary thing. Complete with prerecorded intimidating noises.

...brain going off again...just thought...know how certain frequencies irritate dogs, etc? Air horns, it seems, don't really do much to a bear. What about an air horn designed for certain frequencies that happen to really hurt or irritate bears? Hhmm...gonna hafta do some research on that. Then modify my own air horns for it. A good DIY project maybe...

Hey, that would work. Pre-recorded farts. Nobody can eat with someone farting. That'd be sure to gross 'em out.

Bear bites shirt.....Faaaaaaart......."Dang man, that's gross." (in bear language of course)

There is a list of reasons I'm not on at all anymore, main one being too dang busy . And I have to admit some boredom with the same old same old etc etc.

I haven't had a chance to drop in as much lately. I have been going to school while working full time and raising a family. Just been too dang busy!
