Thread: A Snowshoe Hike Video

    Default A Snowshoe Hike Video

I know I know. A snowshoe hike when everybody is basking in spring time warmth? We are too. But it was only 2 weeks ago we were inundated with snow. There are still large patches of snow on the ground and the lake ice is 24-27 inches thick. But temperature is approaching mid to upper 60's and spring has arrived.

This video gives a tour of our normal winter snowshoe hike around our loop trail and shows forest fire devastation as well as recovering forest. It's a good example of how a forest recovers after a fire. It is also a powerful example of how sprinklers saved us twice from calamity.

Well, we (some friends and myself) have a trip to Northrop this weekend. It's forecast to snow here in Denver - they're expecting a lot more in the Collegiates. Luckily, I like snow - I hope the others do. I suspect we'll be doing a lot of "cabin activities."
True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.

Wolf, have a safe trip. Sounds like you might want to pack the snowshoes. Some crazy weather going on down there.

You're welcome Hunter. Thanks for the feedback. Yes, lots of new trees coming in. It would be near impossible to walk through. You can't see the old forest now because it is all laying in a tangled mess in the new growth.

Thanks. There were actually a pair of snowshoes on the wall!
