Just heard about Merle Haggard
Dang it. I grew up hearing Merle and have always loved him.

Yes, I have wifi in my outhouse!
I doubt that Merle ever though he would live to see 79!
He lived hard, fought off cancer, bounced back and kept going.
I always admired him because he overcame so much adversity in his life. He could have given up and spent most of his life in prison, but he made a decision, stuck with it and fought to achieve it.
His Mama got to tell him she was proud of him today.

I'm sad to hear it.

We were listening to Merle at the warehouse last night and talking about him. Funny the next day he passes away.
Rest In Peace.
I'm not much of a fan of country music but I always dug Merle! I was just thinking about him last week, wondering if he was still touring. RIP, you will be missed! An original Highwayman.
Actually the Highwaymen were Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson.

The Highwaymen were part of the Nashville circuit while Merle was one of the leaders in the California Country group. Two very distinct styles and sounds.
Part of that was based on Merle hiring Nokie Edwards as his lead guitarist for may years. Nokie was also lead guitar for The Ventures and responsible for most of that lonesome whining electric guitar you hear in Merle's work. "It don't mean a thang if it ain't got the twang" became the California motto.
