Default Background music in Mountain Men

    Hi people,

Could any one tell me the name/performers of the banjo/orchestral background piece in the Eustace Conway section of the Mountain Men series, please?
I find it a haunting and evocative piece of "mountain" music, and would like to learn to play it

    Thanks
    miktala

If you are talking about the opening theme it's "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

    A UK banjo player ???

Do you know the first words we say to a banjo player wearing a suit and tie in Kentucky?

Will the defendant please rise and face the jury.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

Lynyrd Skynyrd is pretty popular around here. Born and raised in the area with a lot of family still here.

    Thing is,

There is not a banjo part anywhere in Simple Man!

and the style is called "southern rock" and not mountain music.

There is a different artist that did the song for the show.....

"If you want to play in Texas, ya gotta have a fiddle in the band....."
    That would be Alabama....

Wow, I am not sure what shocks me the most. A British banjo player, a Brit who wants to learn something American, or southern rock being construed as mountain music!

Hey Kyrat, pass me the mason jar. I need a chug!

You have obviously never been to a Lynard Skynard concert!

You don't drink moonshine in a mason jar to southern rock...

You drink Jack Daniels out of a paper cup!

    Been there, done that!

That's why they always do Freebird last, everyone is drunk and crying and it cuts down on the fights.

I did as well until he brought up Eustace Conway....so that the TV show.

Now the Mountain Men Movie, w/Brian Keith, and Charlton Heston, goes back to 1980......"Them are Blackfoot, I tell ya...."

Only problem with the original Mountain Men movie was that I kept waiting for Charlton Heston to hold out his rifle and part the Missouri River!

    The one I like best is the quite from Jerimiah Johnson;
