Default Woman and panther on boardwalk

A woman was walking on the boardwalk at Corkscrew Swamp when a panther came from the opposite direction.

There are actually a lot of encounters with panthers in Corkscrew Swamp on the boardwalk. Mostly people photographing or videoing them walking away or just standing there.

Made me wonder how deep the water was under that boardwalk.

Cause that was where I would have been.

Remember the old early 1900 advertisement poster from one of the gun companies, Remington or Winchester, where the cowboy meets the grizzly on the mountain ledge?

I always figured I'd end up on some kind of list.

That's about the best kind of encounter you could have that close. Just passing through...got somewhere to go...not caring about you at all.

Panther was like "I wonder if I can just get by with no incident. Leave me alone...leave me alone...I just wanna get by..."

or "I wonder if I can make her poop her pants."

The board walk goes through an area and I couldn't say for sure on the depth right now. The hydrology there is different from here. The boardwalks there are typically about 2' to 3' above the ground. Our panthers often take the trails. That area is just North of Big Cypress and the Panther Conservation Area.

Panther predation on pets and livestock is pretty high in that area. But, there have been no attacks on humans in that area and the one documented in the state was a turkey hunter. Y'all know how camoed up a turkey hunter is and at ground level and calling like turkeys.

Our panthers average from 75lbs to about 115lbs.

the 75 to 115 lbs isn't so much of a problem. It's the big teeth and claws. Did I mention that place is on the list? Her epitaph could have read, "She bravely continued to film".

That was an "Oh S**t" moment, if I ever saw one! Its a wonder she didn't try to pet it, knowing todays city dwellers.

First, you assumed the panther was a "he" and second, you are probably a walkin' dead man. Backing slowly out of thread.
