Default Quite a mystery! My trap dissappeard

Over the years I have removed hundreds of grey squirrels from my property. I use multiple havahearts (live Trap) them and move them to a nearby park about two miles away. I started this when I found all the damage in the attic caused by squirrels.

So last night just before bed - I put the dogs out and they alerted me there was a squirrel in the trap in the front yard. I was too tiered to move it, so I tossed a thick blanket over the top. Normally I jump in the car... instead I made a plan to take it up there this morning. I got up and whoops the trap and the squirrel are long gone. The blanket was still there, I just came back out of the rain as I searched the property and could not find it. The weird part was the windows were open last night and my wife and I would have heard a commotion.

No mystery there. Mad Squirrel Gang (MSG). Taking one away is fine but if you leave it MSG is bound to show up for the rescue. I've read that more and more people avoid MSG at all cost and MSG can be hazardous to your health. You are lucky you weren't outside when they showed up or you, too, could have been a victim of MSG.

The only thing worse than the commando squirrels are the Airborne Ranger squirrels, especially when they have air support from the flying squirrels.

There' a bear sitting around somewhere shaking that bejebus out of that trap, trying to figger out how to eat the squirrel inside.
I've had bears and raccoons make off with the suet cages I put out for the birds. Never been able to find them.

Bear #1: "Maybe if you.....no, that won't work."
Bear #2: "I've tried everything. It's like an EMP cage for squirrels. I've read about those."
Squirrel: "I'm gonna die of old age in here. Einsteins. A million bears in the world and I get a couple of Einsteins."
Bear #2: "Hey, that was just cruel."
Bear #1: "And unnecessary. Did they have any squirrels that weren't quite so hateful?"

Last experience I had with the tinder traps was catching a 25 pound coon in a 15 pound trap.

Took me half a day to squeeze that cage back into something that looked like a rectangle.

My neighbor feeds the feral cats &%%$!X%CCC(** but that's a story for another time. A large raccoon was eating all of the food and scaring off the cats (bonus as far as I can tell). They made me promise not to kill it. I used a Havaheart trap and caught a huuuuuuuuuuuuge raccoon. I released it locally in a national park - https://www.nps.gov/timu/learn/histo...panishpond.htm With the promise that she would not leave food out for the cats, but rather put the bowls out and then take them up after feeding. Yeah, that lasted about a day. I wonder how many more raccoons there are in the area?

The three inch snow today revealed the trap some 300 feet in the back yard with the dead squirrel intact - sorry pita.... I planted this in the front yard .... coyotes.

Coyote 1: "No, seriously. The squirrel had like body armor."
    (Coyotes howling)
Coyote 1: "Okay, don't believe me but it was the weirdest thing I've ever seen.

That's what the bears in the Great Smokey Mountains section of the AT probably thought.

The backpackers were required to sleep inside trail shelters that had fence across the front.

The bears would sit outside and watch us at night.
