Hello! I'm in my mid 20's and have always wanted to try my hand at self sufficiency. After living in society for so many years and having the same patterns of employment and gain leading to burn out, unemployment, and disaster....well, I want to actually do something with my life before I get old. I'm sort of a late bloomer. I wasn't raised to hunt or garden, even though my family is partially a country family and my parents keep a garden. I'm not sure why exactly, but I missed out on a lot of skills that a lot of people my age started developing in childhood. So, I'll be starting from square one operating from faith in myself more than anything. I'm really curious how other people are doing it. I didn't think it was as common as it is to choose a primitive lifestyle, so this forum is a pleasant surprise.

Well, the military might be a good place to start. You can learn a lot of survival skills there and do something with your life.

Hello and welcome. While not too many (there are some) live completely primitive lifestyles, we have a lot of members that enjoy the skills and knowledge necessary to partake in more primitive living. I'd venture to say that most do it as a hobby and get a sense of enjoyment out of it. Those that have come here and gone full on primitive.......well we just don't hear from them too much any more.
