If you fail to celebrate Pi Day this year, you can always look forward to Mole Day on October 23nd starting at 6:02 in the morning - a day that chemistry teachers have fun with www.moleday.org

In October, you can celebrate Metric Day or Decimal Day on the 10th. 10th month, 10th day - get it?

With interesting conversation like this, it is not surprising that science majors do not have much social life

You can celebrate PI Day in the Philippine Islands I don't know if they have pecan pie there, but they do have good cuisine.
Most of the PI people I have met or worked with are decent people.

LOL...I never like math all that much.....although thru the years it was something I did have to use in various jobs.

That said, my first girlfriend was kinda a nerd.........Blond nerd?......Yeah, I know, Oxymoron.

But I did get whole different point of view on math.

Did you know that if you write 3.14 and hold it up to a mirror it looks like the word pie? Weird. If you take a circle, any circle, measure it's circumference and divide it by it's diameter it will always be pi. Any size circle. If you calculate the answer out to 39 places your error will be less than the width of a hydrogen atom. I gotta get a new ruler. Did you know that every date that is important to you, your birthday, anniversary, etc appears at least once in pi? With an infinite number of, well, numbers, any number combination is possible.

There is a really cool show on Netflix titled the Story of Maths. It's narrated by Oxford professor Marcus du Sautoy. He deals quite a bit with Pi and gives some amazing statistics like the ones above. It's a fascinating show.

If you take an apple's circumference and divide by it own diameter, you will have apple pi.
