How many teachers/educators on here?

I had a curious thought this morning, brought on be comments I have read in various posts. How many of you have a background in teaching/education? And in what fields? I will start the thread off: as my screen name implies, I am a retired College Professor but have also taught at the Elementary level (Fifth grade). My field of specialization is Geography; Physical and Economic. Other educational endeavors include teaching CPR and First Aid for the Red cross and 50+ years of Hunter Education and Bow Hunter Education.

Started teaching right out of the Army and put 35 years in.

My focus was History, but early on I wound up filling in as general social studies to include geography, economics, civics, soc/psyc and I hold certification in about 10 separate subjects.

Covered every age group from 5th grade through college also.

Included in the educational efforts I also combine several years as a museum director, curator and demonstrator of cultural life-ways through living history.

I actually enjoyed the museum work more than classroom teaching. The audience was there because they wanted to be there, but you had to know your stuff and be able to present it quickly and in an entertaining way to hold their attention or they would simply walk away!

That experience actually helped my classroom presentation. When I went back to teaching after the museum work interlude I was teaching history, not just lists of facts and the causes and results of wars.

I am still involved in teaching through some training I do for a mission society, preparing new missionaries for life in third world nations.

I was a tutor for Huntington for awhile. I also taught job placement and adult education at an Easter Seals facility along with my "regular job" as vocational evaluator. I've been a guest lecturer in several college level classes and my website is partially concerned with continuing education for lifelong learners.

Degrees are in education. Master Training Specialist and Curriculum Developer in the military. Currently my teaching is pest control related. I regularly conduct continuing education training classes for others in the industry.

I hear y'all. You have my admiration.

27 years of factory supervision, OTJ training in many different operation.....as well as and including safety first aid and CPR training.
Although most instructing and educational training for others was in all age groups, with a very diversified array of employees.

Some time they acted like children....LOL.

Lots of folks do not know how much training the military does in "educational methods" for folks in training positions. I had to take a full course in "military instruction" even though I already had a degree in education and teacher certification. I learned more about real presentation of information in that course than I did in 4 years of "teacher prep" in college.

There is just something about teaching that course on grenades just before you go to the grenade range with your company that inspires one to instructional greatness!

I taught high school English for a few years then moved, substitute taught all grades fora couple of years, then moved into a different field.

I taught business, management and economics in college for a couple of years after I retired. I did some accounting classes and a few pre-English classes to English second language students. The pre-English classes were the most rewarding and probably the most fun.

Oh yea, I also taught Interview Skills and Resume Building classes for the state up here in Alaska and I was also the Chief GED Examiner for the Interior of Alaska for 6 years.

Myopic misfit science teacher, certifications in Biological Sciences and Chemistry. My teaching began in the Peace Corps - village school in Western Samoa. I remained a teacher, primarily in the Pacific region, teaching through community college level. Biology, environmental science, chemistry, physical science, a little general math and adult education.

Most rewarding has been teaching in island regions where it is necessary to improvise laboratory work and to use local resources. I have also enjoyed remedial literacy teaching where a student wanted to make up for having to leave school when he was young. Least enjoyable has been working with students who are forced to go to school.
