That map is bogus!
They are not saying if that is true number of guns or a percentage of households with a firearm.
Kentucky has approved more background checks in the past ten years than Louisiana has people, and most definitely more than the populations of Alaska, Wyoming or Montana.
KY this year issued 203,000 CCW permits. That is half the population of Wyoming and 1/4 the population of Alaska and both those states sport a county on the map.
And only a small portion of the gun owners in KY even apply for a CCW. We are an open carry state, they don't have too.
More than 2,000,000 background checks in KY this year, up to September...
And our population is not but 4.5 million!

I would think that your house being the best armed house in the county would have a far better bearing on you family's safety.
A face-full of shot has got to be a better deterrent than an explanation of our county being the most armed.

So....are there counties where a lot of one armed people live? Weird statistic.
Those are the counties on the map that are white. The red counties on the map have more 2 armed people, so overall have the most arms. I am sure there are some 3 armed people who really bump up the numbers. Of course, if your county has a lot of no armed people, then you will never get high on the list.
