If we are to have another contest in…our national existence I predict that the dividing line will not be Mason and Dixon's, but between patriotism & intelligence on the one side, and superstition, ambition & ignorance on the other…
~ President Ulysses S. Grant
My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Rest in Peace Sarge, God Bless.
A man full of grits is a man full of peace.
Grph! That hurt.
True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.
The first person to welcome me to the forum. He will be missed. Who is going to give good rep to Bear Grylls knives now? Who is going to make fun of Ranger Rick? I am sure there is a bus in heaven with his name on it. The wolf pack will miss you Sarge...rest in peace.
I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Yes, I have wifi in my outhouse!
Blue skies and a full cup Sarge. Rest in Peace.
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.
Sarge was one of the first members of this forum, certainly one of the first active ones, and an integral part of it. He welcomed so many new members and contributed so much, and his contributions will continue to grow even though he is gone. It saddens me to lose anyone but especially someone so... pioneering is the word I want to use. And now his watch is ended. RIP Sarge, I thank you for everything.
I am so sorry to hear this. Rest in peace Sarge.

I did not know you, Sarge, but truly wish I had. You will be missed here, and welcomed there.

Peace be with you my friend!
If Jesus plays chess he got one helluva opponent. I will miss Sarge. Still got his number around here some place, wished we talked more.
I'm a simple man, of simple means, turned my back on the machines, to follow my dreams.
Sad news to see after not visiting the site for a while.
Rest in Peace Sarge, God Bless.
Every time I look at my knife collection I think of Sarge! 2 Christmases ago he sent me a pocket knife for my exchange gift. It was actually a knife that was owned by his father in law and had been in the family for several years.
I will always cherish that knife!
Didn't know ya, and I'm late. But here's something for you -
The pessimist complains about the wind;
The optimist expects it to change;
The realist adjusts the sails.
