Default Alaskan Bush People, and others.

I just read a clip from the Denver post referencing Federal and State actions being pursued against several producers and participants on hunting shows and "Reality TV shows"

    http://www.denverpost.com/opinioncol...oaching-alaska

Several of the top TV hunters are being charged with poaching and hunting protected areas.

Among others, the Browns are being charged with attempting to collect Alaskan residency funds and attempting to purchase resident hunting licenses when they are not residents of Alaska. Each adult is being charged separately, Which I thought was a hoot, since only the youngest girl is underage.

Of course that also means that they do not actually live all piled up on each other like Tobacco Road in a hokey cabin on Peter Pan's island in Never-Never Land! Apparently they have a house in town, and the town is not in Alaska!

Seems that Alaska may be tiring of being presented as a place one can run to produce "keep from facing reality TV", and so big that laws can not be enforced.

Yep that's old news up here. We get a Permanent Fund Dividend check every year, this year it is $2000. But you have to qualify for it. Not just every one gets it. They lied on their applications and were busted.

Darn it, that is just sick! They call it a reality show and it isn't even real! I thought those Bush people really lived there all the time, heck they even built a log home there!

    I am totally disillusioned now!

I am also waiting for the North Carolina Department of Child Protective Services to make a visit to Thorn on the Live Free Or Die Nat-geo series for keeping his daughter in a shack with no plumbing or running water. He is a former school teacher and knows that is illegal, and if he still had a job reporting the condition would be part of his obligations to the county/state.

I am guessing the same situation, Thorn has a house in town and goes to the woods for filming.

And if their time line is correct Thorn is also hunting out of season on the last episode.

they really should present these as comedies and not attempt to make a connection to "reality".

It's all "show business," folks ..... and there isn't anything "real" about show biz.

The Alaskan Bush People show never impressed me, but the Last Alaskans did! I enjoyed the documentaries that were blended with a lot of (useful) insight from the individuals. Unlike shows along the lines of Alaskan Bush People, Swamp People and Naked & Afraid, no hype and BS from a producer's showbiz agendas were involved).

Seeing this series was one of the few times I wished I had TV (I watched it at my bro's place).

I don't know that show but living without electric or running water is not a reportable offense up here.

Some of them are more real then others. The Alaska Bush People are famous for being frauds up here.

But that "youngest kid" you mention is almost 30!

The mental age of everyone on that show would not total to a number high enough to buy a beer!

According to the plot of their tale they have 6 adult children that are so co-dependent they will never leave home and become productive humans.

Seems dad doesn't hunt or carry firearms?
Make ya wonder of there is felony in the mix?

Kinda gave up on that show.....No money, no supplies....but always seem to come up with different boats, and guns.....so where is the money coming from?

Oh yeah, leather motor cycle jackets and dusters are the new "bush" gear?

It generally seems like she comes out for short periods of time, at least when I watched it. She isn't really living there, more like going camping with her dad for the weekend.

I only watched a few episodes of the "Alaskan Bush People" do they have a "home" or residency in Texas?

My parents raised me with no running water or indoor pumbing or electricity for the summers and CPS had no problems with it. Child Protective Services do (or should) however when parents leave young kids or minors of any age unsupervised for extended periods of time even in fancy mansions. The more toys and money they have the more trouble they can get into. I just ran around the indigenous village and played with the naked native kids. Worst trouble we got into was shooting arrows straight up watching them come down and killing venomous snakes we saw almost every day. Not nearly as dangerous as rich upper middle class kids ordering contraband, kids can get whatever they want with internet, twitter, s-phone today delivered to them.

Edit: Don't read this gossip site and others if you enjoy the entertainment value the Brown Family/Clan provides. Personally I wouldn't go on a TV show if I had legal problems, and needed to hide or had unpaid debts I was running from but these are allegations until they are proven in court... I am NOT their lawyer, THANKFULLY, because I like to get PAID!!! Not the responsibility of Discovery Channel to check up on everyones background, but you can if you are a viewer and care about it. My family tells me to "SHUT UP!!" when I comment on technical and legal issues with TV shows and movies....

North Carolina Department of Child Protective Services would have had a LOT on their hands 150-250 years ago... when was this indoor plumbing law passed? Almost half of India does not have an indoor toilet and they have been "stealing" our jobs for decades. OMG let's elect a New York Billionaire to "fix" that "problem". ha ha ha...
