    Default Mosin Test

We have not had a good MN thread for a while and I came across this interesting bit which I found of interest.

What does it take to tear up a MN??

    These two guys found out.

and apparently the rest of us will never blow one up unless we do it on purpose.

It is a two part video, and it takes both parts to get this job done!

Darn, my youtube is iffy at best. I don't recall but in Parker Ackleys blowup tests I don't think he tested a mosin. Off to the archives I go.
so the definition of a criminal is someone who breaks the law and you want me to believe that somehow more laws make less criminals?

You are right, we haven't had a Mosin thread is a long time.....

    I don't know if it's just me.....but I feel sorry for the gun.....LOL
Lasted all these years to meet it untimely end.

Took a lot to stop it.
    Pretty impressive.

Think I'll take Natasha out for an airing tomorrow. Check the scope setting out here before hunting season causes a swamping of the range and the seasonal shooters run me off.

I haven't been kicked in the shoulder good and hard in some time now.

Been shooting those sissy 5.56 rounds for the last couple of months and I need to be reminded what a real gun feels like when you pull the trigger.

I think both those guys should be arrested and charged with Neglect of a Dependant, Dishonorable Conduct, Unlawful Possession of a Hammer and Possession of a firearm by someone that needs to be adjudicated as mentally impaired. That firearm is older than both of them put together. It's probably seen more action than either one of them on a week-end with a full bottle of Viagra. To do that to a Mosin is beyond reprehensible. They must belong to some occult or other group of ne'er do wells. Disgusting.

I lived near the big Nissan factory down in Tennessee for many years and had lots of friends that worked there. They would often tell me about looking into the dumpster and finding a 300zx, pickup or Altima in the skip.

They would pull a car off the line and test it to destruction. Sometimes the vehicle would not fall apart during their 500,000 trial run and they would then dissect it to see if all the welds and fasteners had held.

Due to seeing the MN test I am assured that if I ever run out of ammo for the MN and "find" 30 caliber ammo of any kind, I can pull the charges and put them in MN brass, or possibly just use the off caliber brass in the MN.

I can also use the charges out of any pistol cartridge I find without worry.

And if the rifle falls over a cliff and I have to climb down and recover it I am assured that the sights will still be set and ready for use.

Since the Imperial Russian torture tests are not available to me I will have to take the word and picture proof from Y-tube of what the parameters of acceptable behavior are on the MN.

Beside, just because something is old does not mean it is worth much. People keep reminding me of that on a daily basis!

You don't have to torture test a Russian firearm. You just have to understand that if the design doesn't work then the creator dies. That's a pretty decent incentive to overbuild just about everything. Frankly, I'm surprised the Yak wasn't made out of I-beams and plate steel and could even get off the ground. Besides, the moon will sling off into space before you run out of 7.62x54R.

Here's Ky's ammo stockpile. This is just 7.62 stuff. It ain't pretty but it works.

Yea, but the 91/30 was designed 27 years before the communist takeover.

I think the best guarantee of its strength, durability and simplicity might be that is was designed for a conscript army of Russian peasants.

Its sort of like when we used to talk about GI issue gear being Marine proof.

I appreciate you revealing the stockpile. Now my opsec is blown!

Good thing you didn't turn around and show the big part of the pile!
