Default 62 year old woman survives 9 days in wilderness with broken bones

She made a lot of mistakes but at least she had a water filter and a fairly warm jacket. Nine days and very cold nights is remarkable without shelter and I am guessing no fire. Badly injured.

We had a lady who flew off of an overpass and crashed into a slough below. She passed away this month 15 years after she went through her ordeal. Surviving in the environment she did in August is South Florida is pretty brutal. The mosquito species in that area are pretty brutal biters and you get the mangrove mosquito and its more urban cousins like the tiger mosquito. And temps and humidity in the 90's.

The articles all say her car landed in a mangrove swamp. Its actually a pond apple slough which is still a very harsh swamp environment. I drive by that spot ever day on the way to work.

In 1979 My family and I flew from Iquitos to Pucallpa, Peru on Faucett that same Peruvian Airlines. It was also a very "janky" airlines then, a 727 as I recall that seemed to shake a lot and never fully level out. But not the worst plane I have ever flown on over jungle. Probably would not have passed inspection in the USA. Then we took a bus over the Andes on mostly paved but some dirt roads to Lima the capital of Peru. My parents liked adventure. They had lived in a place about an hour or so outside of Pucallpa and some more remote areas in Peru long before I was born.
